Sam Bombardiere, the PortFest Food chairperson, has been busy juggling phones, tasting food, gathering contracts and figuring out where to put it all. This is Bombardiere’s first year as food chair.
Bombardiere said, “This year we will have the best lineup yet from local eateries in a variety of different foods, so come to PortFest hungry.”

PortFest Cochair Lisa Marschall was the food chair for several years.
“Each vendor makes a donation to HEARTS of $350,” said Marschall. “The lines for Ralph’s and Rosie’s Grilled Cheese never end.”
The Fifth Annual PortFest will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the campus of Schreiber High School. The event, a community-wide arts and music festival, is organized and hosted by HEARTS (Help Enrich the Arts of Port Washington). HEARTS is an independent, grassroots nonprofit community organization whose mission is to add meaningful value to children’s lives and the community by supporting and enriching the arts in Port Washington and its public schools. Damon Gersh, founder and chairperson of HEARTS, started PortFest because he believes passionately in the importance of arts in public schools.
“Portfest is an amazing gathering of all that makes Port Washington great,” said Marschall. “Dedicated volunteers, awesome community participation and support—it’s a Woodstock in Port, filled with fun, food, music, dance and art for all ages.”
