Deadline To Register For Primary Friday, August 18

LWV1The League of Women Voters of Nassau County (LWVNC) wants to make sure U.S. citizens over the age of 18 know that the last day to register to vote in the next primary election is Friday, Aug. 18.

Registration requirements, forms and ways to register online, via US mail and in person can be found on the LWVNC’s website (www.lwvofnassaucounty.org). To ask questions of the Nassau County Board of Elections (BOE), call 516-571-2858 or go to the BOE website (www.nassauvotes.com) and click “Contact Us.”

The primary election will follow on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Only those registered with a particular party affiliation will be able to vote in this election, and they can only vote for candidates in which they are registered. Because New York is a closed primary state, this means changing party affiliations now in 2017 does not apply to this year’s primary election but only applies to the next primary election in 2018.

The League of Women Voters is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization of both men and women, dedicated to promoting political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. New members and donations are always welcome.
