Northwell Health will host a community lecture by Ceil Sorrentino, RN, on “Strokes & Stroke Prevention” on August 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the Great Neck Library, Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road (2nd level) above Best Market, Gardens at Great Neck Plaza. Admission is free.
Topics that will be covered include: Facts about Stroke, Definition of Stroke, Symptoms of Stroke, What is F.A.S.T?, What is TIA?, Myths/Facts of Stroke, Stroke Prevention, Treatments for Strokes, Types of Different Stroke Rehabilitation, Lifestyle Changes after Stroke, and Recovery Services.
Bio of Ceil Sorrentino
Ceil Sorrentino, RN, is in her 43rd year of nursing with the last 17 years as a stroke coordinator. She worked in Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn before coming to Northwell. LICH was one of the 1st hospitals to be designated a Stroke Center by the DOH. Her role then changed from Clinical Coordinator of the Neurology Department to Stroke Coordinator till 2008. She joined Northwell (Franklin Hospital) as Stroke Coordinator in 2008 and transferred to North Shore University Hospital in 2013 where she presently works as Stroke Coordinator.
