The Great Neck North Boys JVA Basketball team played Jericho this past week. The Blazers were 2-0 against the Manhasset squad this year. With their confidence, Manny Hakimian scored 23 points on the offensive end. Matthew Heimowitz, Liam Nihan and Ryan Aminzadeh played excellent on the defensive end while controlling the rebounding blocking and assists. The Blazers came out with the win.
The Great Neck North Varsity Swimming team competed in the division championships this past week. Only a few select members of each team across the county participated in this event. From the Blazers, Eytan Ran, Bryan Tsai, Wellington Chen, Coby Kavakeb, Aaron Dadfarin and a few others swam in this event. A great performance by Dadfarin in the 200-meter freestyle race led him to a first place in the first heat. The other participants from the Blazers swam great, but Tsai, Yaron Nassir, Nilesh Ganguli and Jonathan Kirshner advanced to the county championship stage. Those events will take place this coming weekend.
The Great Neck North Varsity Girls Basketball team played its last game this week. The team ended the season on a strong note with a 55-48 win over Carey.
Shira Pirouzian played very well in the game.
