Learn about some of Earth’s endangered species, develop an appreciation for guerrilla gardening by making seed bombs and feed wildlife by crafting simple bird feeders from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Levels teen center at Main.

Flutes of the World
In this interactive program, Tereasa Payne, a NYC flutist/world flutist/woodwinds specialist, who has performed her Flutes of the World concert throughout the country and is in the The Lion King orchestra, invites the audience to explore how flutes are used around the world to communicate, connect and create a sense of belonging at 2 p.m. in Main’s community room.
Craft for a Cause

Great Decisions at Main
Librarian Christy Orquera will facilitate a discussion on The Rise of Populism at 2 p.m. in Main’s community room. Great Decisions programs involve reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a discussion group. Pet Food Drive
Donate food for all pets, especially 5- or 10-pound bags or canned dog and cat food, kitty litter, treats and new toys, unopened and in original packaging, at all Great Neck Library locations in April, during the eighth annual Legislative Pet Food Drive sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso in partnership with Long Island Cares, which started Baxter’s Pet Pantry in 2009 and has distributed more than 1-million pounds of pet food.

Prospective Candidates Search
For the 2019 Great Neck Library election on Oct. 28, prospective candidates are being sought for two seats expiring in January 2020—one on the Board of Trustees to fill Scott Sontag’s seat and one on the Nominating Committee to fill Patrick McDonnell’s seat. A nominee must be a member of the Great Neck Library Association by Oct. 7, 2019, at least 18 years old, a resident of the Great Neck School District and either be a valid library card holder or registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections.
