The Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade Committee hosted their fourth annual Grand Marshal “Green Tie” Gala fundraiser to honor their 2025 Parade Grand Marshals Joseph and Marguerite Danaher. The lively event, held at The Piermont in Babylon, was attended by elected officials and dignitaries, parade sponsors, local supporters, and friends and family of the Danahers.
The Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade, held this year on March 29, was conceived by Parade Committee Co-Presidents David Crowe, Proprietor of Lindenhurst’s Belfast Gastropub, and RJ Renna, Lindenhurst Village Deputy Mayor. Joining them on the Committee are Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin J. McCaffrey, and Committee Secretary Katie Schrader, Lindenhurst Village Clerk.

The Grand Marshal’s Gala began with an escort for the Danahers into the event by the Amityville American Legion Pipe Band, of which Mr. Danaher is a member, and a Color Guard from Our Lady of Fatima Assembly #716, the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus for OLPH Council #794. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Grand Knight Patrick Corcoran, and a prayer was offered by Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C.C. Monsignor Joseph DeGrocco. The U.S. National Anthem was performed by Knight George Formes, and the crowd was then treated to a performance of traditional Irish step dancing by the Mise Eire Irish dancers.
Joseph and Marguerite “Meg” Danaher, who are long-time Lindenhurst residents, local business owners (Wealth Wave Financial Group), and fierce supporters of the parade since its inception, were honored and recognized for their embodiment of faith, service, and their commitment to family, the Lindenhurst community, and their Irish heritage. Several elected officials present, including New York State Senator Keith Brown, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Anthony Manetta, Lindenhurst Mayor Michael Lavorata, and Lindenhurst Trustees Douglas Madlon, Patrick Pichichero and Maryann Weckerle, all celebrated the Danahers with proclamations of honor and gratitude.
The Parade Committee then presented the Danahers with their official Grand Marshal honors – traditional Irish Blackthorn walking sticks, a Thomand Irish Crystal vase, and their official Grand Marshal sashes. The program officially closed with a blessing before dinner by Joe and Meg’s 92-year-old aunt, Sister Alice Danaher of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville.
Thanks to the support of sponsors, such as Belfast Gastropub, Wealth Wave Financial Group, Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, OLPH Knights of Columbus Council #794, Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning, East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lindenhurst Business Improvement District, and Ridgewood Savings Bank, among many others, the Fourth Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade saw hundreds of Irish pipers, drummers, dancers, local firefighters, scouting troops, fraternal groups, community organizations, businesses, and elected officials march down Wellwood Avenue, through the beautiful, historic Lindenhurst Downtown Business District.
