The New York Blood Center is teaming up with Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold Drucker to host a blood drive on Tuesday, March 31, from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jericho Public Library.
“By rolling up your sleeves, you are truly giving the gift of life and helping to ensure that patients can receive essential care in their time of greatest need,” Drucker said in a statement. “I am proud to be once again working with the New York Blood Center and the Jericho Public Library to host this community blood drive, and I encourage everyone who is eligible – whether you donate routinely, haven’t given blood in a while, or are a first-time donor – to do your part to address our region’s persistent blood shortage.”
Eligible donors must have a photo ID, weigh at least 110 pounds, have had no tattoos in the last 12 months and be 16-75 years of age (16-year-old donors must have parental consent. Donors over age 76 must bring a doctor’s note). O-negative and B-negative donors are especially needed in addition to all other blood types.
Appointments are preferred but not required; walk-ins will be taken as capacity permits.
Call 1-800-93-BLOOD (25663) or visit nybc.org to make an appointment.
“Your blood donation can save up to three lives, requiring just a small amount of your time for a lasting impact,” the library said in a statement.
