The vote comes almost a week to the day that Paladino’s racially insensitive comments sparked controversy. In a response to questions from a Buffalo alt-weekly Artvoice, Paladino said he wished President Barack Obama die of Mad Cow disease and First Lady Michelle Obama “return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe.”

Long Island's two groundhogs were agreed with Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous groundhog of all, who all did not see their shadows, effectively predicting an early spring. New York City's Staten Island Chuck and Connecticut’s Chuckles also were in agreement. New Jersey's two groundhogs disagreed.
