Nassau County’s second case of measles in an adult this year has been confirmed, health officials said Thursday. 

New York State lawmakers passed a package of bills repealing the religious exemption for vaccines on Thursday amid a measles outbreak that has swept through Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish communities and infected almost 1,000 people statewide.

An adult who recently arrived from outside the U.S. was recently confirmed as having the first case of the measles on Long Island since outbreaks elsewhere in New York have been reported, officials said.
