The New York Press Association honored the Long Island Press with awards for its coverage of local news in the trade group's annual Better Newspaper Contest ceremony.

The Long Island Press ranked among the top news websites in New York State at the New York Press Association (NYPA) 2016 Better Newspaper Contest held at at Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs on April 7 and 8.

The Long Island Press brought home nearly two dozen honors at recent local, state, and regional journalism awards competitions, earning top prizes and dominating the best website categories at several. The contests recognize journalistic excellence in print, on radio, television and online.

The Press came in Third Overall for Single-Flag Newspapers, earning top honors across more than a dozen categories.

Despite publishing only 12 issues last year, the Press came in second overall, with top honors yet again across nearly every category.
