Wildcats Soccer Roundup: July 3, 2009

For the U8G NHP Thunder Cats, there is one word that comes to mind on how they played and it was awesome, in the Plainedge Fathers Day Tournament on June 20th. They came in third place but by no means did it count for how they played with only one point from being in second place. All the girls put their best foot forward, playing their hardest and truly enjoyed the game. There was not one girl that did not put an effort in to contribute as a player and if you were watching one of the games you would have been on the edge of your seat gripped with excitement. The team may have started off slow in the first half of that morning game but they got better with each passing moment. By the second game there was no stopping them and in the third game do you think a little rain would dampen their spirits, by no means… it just drove them harder as a team. I can’t say one player outshined another because they all were shining bright that day.

The first game against Syosset was a close game, we were evenly matched, but we lost 1-0.

The second game against Rockville Center the girls were hungry for a win. They realized that passing and staying in position combined with their drive to do their best come with a 3-0 win. But the true spirit and not giving up came in the third game, even with a little rain. They were down by one goal during the first 16 minutes of the game, there was about 10 left, but these girls were enjoying the game and were determine to come back. Then by sheer will of passing and staying open we got a goal, then right after that they got a second goal, then again right after that a third goal. Amazing. You could see how well they were playing as a team. We won that game 3-1. They played wonderful that day.
