Although the Lady Dragons of Division Avenue were ranked second in the Nassau County Class “A” Girls’ Soccer Playoffs, they experienced a heart breaking loss in the first round to a tough Jericho team. Despite an unprecedented (third in a row) conference title the Lady Dragons were denied a second trip to the county finals this year.
Even though 11teammates of the Dragons will graduate at the end of this school year, they have an exceptionally talented group of underclassmen returning next season.
Juniors Susan Ballantyne, Courtney Boneillo, Joanna Capitelli, Maggie Carew, Krista Fitzpatrick, and Rachel Murdukhayev are poised to be the team leaders.
Expectations are also high for sophomores Alyssa Fiore, Taylor LeBright, and Alexa Schneider.
The lone freshman on this year’s team was Ariana Weingrad. She adds great skills and impressive speed to the lineup!
With help of some upcoming junior varsity players, next season’s team has tremendous promise.
