With “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” set to come out Tuesday night, you would think there’s nothing Shia LaBeouf could do, or say, to top his own premiere.
Well, he did.
In a recent interview with Details magazine, the “Transformers” star hints at a relationship with costar Megan Fox.
When asked if he ever hooked up with Fox, LaBeouf said: “Look, you’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them,” he said. “I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen.”
It’s unclear if that “chemistry” was sparked to new levels while Fox started dating Brian Austin Green. All LaBeouf said in response to the question was “I don’t know man. I don’t know,” according to Details.
The article includes a scene where Fox was being mistreated at a Taco Bell so LaBeouf took it upon himself to walk behind the cash register and hit the guy.
That chemistry looks to be done, for now at least, with Fox off the cast of “Transformers.” She was replaced with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a British-born Victoria Secret model, who was chosen over 500 other women to play LaBeouf’s new love interest.
Huntington-Whiteley will be making her big screen debut, and her only recent TV appearances have been on late night shows to promote her first movie.
During the interview, LaBeouf touches on his past, and said he had to fight as a kid for “survival.”
And he said of keeping his life private: “I’m a little territorial and defensive…I don’t like having my space invaded.”
The third installment of “Transformers” opens on IMAX screens at select theaters at 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
