Former “American Idol” contestant Pia Toscano has just released her new single.

Her single “This Time,” follows a stint on “American Idol,” which she was axed from. Her new single is being showcased on the summer’s American Idol Live! Tour and comes off of her debut album, which is set for release later this year.

She played the single for the first time on the radio on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” Monday. Pia told Seacrest, “This song is a journey of self discovery for me. Its an empowerment kind of song. I feel like its a ladies anthem. It pertains to my journey on American Idol to a relationship. This is my time. I can’t believe I’m allowed this opportunity.”

Earlier this year, Pia officially signed with Interscope Records.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family,” said Toscano in the statement. “[Interscope Geffen A&M Chariman] Jimmy Lovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true.”

Back in April, Toscano was voted off of “American Idol,” shocking viewers and judges. Jennifer Lopez said  “I have no idea. I have no idea what just happened here. I’m shocked. I’m angry. I don’t even know what to say.” Randy Jackson mouthed “no, no” as Ryan Seacrest announced she would be leaving and Steven Tyler was also in disagreement with the final decision, “They’re wrong,” he said, “I don’t know what happened with this.
