Man Arrested for Assaulting Musician at Bayport Bar

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for assaulting a musician who had been performing at a bar in Bayport.

Michael Hargreaves was leaving at the Grey Horse Tavern, located at 291 Bayport Ave., after he performed, when he was assaulted by Jalaluddin Khojandi, 25, with a crowbar at approximately 3:45 a.m. today. Hargreaves, 39, of Southampton, was transported by Patchogue Community Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was admitted with serious head injuries.

Khojandi, who is undomiciled, fled the scene in a Ford Crown Victoria, and a description of the vehicle was broadcast. Second Precinct police officers on patrol noticed the Ford parked in front of Khojandi’s place of employment at approximately 4:00 p.m. As they were impounding the Ford, the officers saw Khojandi drive by in another vehicle. Khojandi was pulled over without incidence and apprehended in Huntington Station at 4:30 p.m.

Following an investigation, Khojandi was charged with Assault. He is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 1.
