The Hunger Games Trailer Released

The full trailer to “The Hunger Games” was released this week, exciting thousands of fans that have made the book a best seller.

Anticipation among fans is growing for the movie that is expected to be released next year. But for those who breezed through all three books, and don’t know what to do next, they will have the trailer to play over and over until next March.

The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.

For those not familiar with the book, it takes readers to a new country called Panem after North America comes to ruins. Twelve districts and a Capitol are formed and every year two representatives from each of the twelve districts are selected to be in the Hunger Games–a fight to the death on live TV.

The story goes that a girl living in Panem, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers herself to be in the Hunger Games, so that her younger sister, Prim (Willow Shields), does not have to go, even though she was the one that was selected by the lottery system of the tyrannical government.

Directing the movie is Gary Ross who also wrote the screenplay for the film.

The trailer depicts the emotional moment when Katniss’ sister is selected to take part in the Games. Katniss immediately reacts by forcing herself through two guards and yells, “I volunteer as tribute.” She immediately thrusts herself in the world of the Hunger Games where she must prepare for the fight of her life.

“The Hunger Games” was the first book released in the series by author Suzanne Collins. Also part of the best-selling series is “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay.”

The movie is expected to be released March 23, 2012.
