Bourne is back, again.
There was never just one. One Matt Damon that is.
Jason Bourne’s story continues as a new trailer for “The Bourne Legacy” dropped this week. The trailer is exciting Bourne fans everywhere while at the same time taking a different route, one without longtime star, Damon.
The new video is the fourth chapter of the franchise and introduces us to a new hero, Aaron Cross played by Jeremy Renner.
“Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg,” Renner is told in the new trailer.
Renner’s life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. Renner, according to CNN, fills the shoes of Damon after he passes on, continuing Jason Bourne’s story.
“He’s Treadstone without the inconsistencies,” says one character referring to Renner and according to MSNBC, it seems to indicate that yet again that the government organization thinks they can control their own human weapons.
Renner joins fellow Bourne newcomers including Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac. He also joins series veterans like Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn who will reprise their roles in the new film.
The Bourne Legacy is set to hit theaters August 3.
The Bourne films are a series of spy films based on Jason Bourne, a former CIA assassin who suffered from extreme memory loss. The series was based on a book series by Robert Ludlum.
