Phillip Phillips “Movin’ Out” Performance (Video)

Picture 135“If you can’t sing Billy Joel, you can’t sing at all,” said American Idol judge Steven Tyler.

Long Island native Billy Joel has produced some of the catchiest and most famous songs of all time throughout his career and this week it was up to the contestants of American Idol to make him proud.

Wednesday night was all about Billy Joel hits for American Idol contestants, each of whom picked one to perform.

One of the fan favorites, Phillip Phillips took the American Idol stage and made the judges proud with his rendition of “Moving Out.”

“You Phillip Phillips-ed that song,” raved Steven Tyler of the rocker contestant.

Other contestants like Deandre payed tribute to Joel by performing classics like “Only The Good Die Young,” and Erika Van Pelt who performed “New York State Of Mind.” Joshua Ledet performed “She’s Got A Way,” while Jessica Sanchez sings “Everybody Has A Dream.”

The episode also featured rapper, P.Diddy who joined the cast to mentor the contestants. The choice mentor may have been a bit awkward considering ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez is a judge. The friendly ex, let it slip calling him “Puffy” reminding the world of their relationship.

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger was also on hand to help the contestants with their looks.
