Local wrestlers take top honors

Wantagh High School recently took first place in the 2012 Nassau County Section 8 – D1 Wrestling Championships held at Hofstra University. Wantagh scored 254.5, placing first over Long Beach (189.5) and MacArthur (141.5).
Two top Wantagh wrestlers took top honors: 99 lb. Jose Rodriquez and 138 lb. Danny McDevitt with a pair of tech falls. Wantagh’s place winners also included:
2nd place: 120 lb. Chris Araos; 126 lb. Vinny Turano
3rd place: 106 lb. Kyle Quinn; 132 lb. Nick Vines
4th place: 182 lb. James Corbett
5th place: 152 lb. Doug Rogers; 182 lb. Alex Wedel
6th place: 285 lb. Steve English
