Drama is what people crave when they tune in to watch the Kardashian’s reality television shows, however, the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks are not able to handle Odom’s emotional baggage, The New York Post reports.
On April 9 the Mavs decided to bounce the youngest Kardashian sister’s hubby, who just recently joined the Dallas team in December. A short four months later the team’s management was fed up with Odam’s petty antics. His family drama and poor on-court performance left a bad taste in the management’s mouth.
“They grew tired of his BS and kicked him to the curb,” an NBA source told Page Six. “[The team] didn’t need someone pouting like a little kid.”
According to sources who are close to Odom, the pro basketball player never felt at home in Dallas. He was depressed he had been traded from LA and felt abandoned by his former team.
Odom even took a leave of absent from his new team in February when his father became ill. Mere months earlier, Odom was involved in a car crash where his driver his a motorcyclist who then hit and killed a 15-year-old pedestrian.
As a result, the new reality celeb was not able to recover from the aftermath. His professional basketball life suffered miserably when he averaged a career-low 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with the Mavs. It’s a drastic drop when compared to his last season with the Lakers where his numbers were at 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Sources think Odam was not playing as well because he felt extra pressure since the reality cameras for “Khloe and Lamar” were always watching his every move. “When he wasn’t playing well, it meant he looked bad,” said a source. “And when you have a show about your life, when you are off-court, you have to deal with the producers asking all those questions. He had a horrible summer, but . . . he was more concerned about the cameras and how he looked.”
“We thought it was in the best interest of the Dallas Mavericks that we went our separate ways” said the owner of the Mavericks team, Mark Cuban. In a statement Odam admitted that it was a mutual decision, “The Mavericks and I have mutually agreed that it’s in the best interest of both parties for me to step away.”
