Hiding her baby bump in a magenta, pocketed Diane von Furstenberg shirt-dress, paired with black leggings and chunky Nine West strappy heels, Vanessa walked into a roaring crowd of adoring young fans, overwhelmingly there just to see her.
Bright, crop-length jeans and capris, block-print dresses and blouse-short combos and simple prints ruled the day. Featured designers included Diane von Furstenberg, Paige jeans—with which Lachey is admittedly “obsessed”—Bebe, Steve Madden and Saks Fifth Avenue.
“Color jeans are super-in,” Lachey said. Also, “Block-print is everywhere,” she added.
“It’s not just blocks of color, it’s when you mix the accents of color.” One advantage of the look,” Vanessa explained, is that, “It highlights your best assets.”
Clingy make way for comfort as loose, draping, and lightweight are in. So are colors like coral, green, and yellow. Stripes are trending high for 2012, as are blazers and ¾ length-sleeve outerwear, great for both work and a night out. In addition to a basic dress, Vanessa’s other must-have advice is the blazer.
Dressed in white, models showcased the power of the accessory by flashing brightly colored, and snakeskin-print shoes, bags and chunky bangles. Nonetheless, it is okay to go nude when it comes to shoes, according to Vanessa. Style-wise, the wedge is the It shoe of the season.
According to Lachey, when it comes to handbags, look for tassels, texture and detailed hardware to add a pop of color and style to any outfit.
The Mother’s Day weekend flash sale and fashion show were arguably more about seeing Vanessa than finding the hottest gift for mom or latest trend.
Kim DeNigris of Babylon was most excited to see Vanessa, “Because I love her.” Taj Cummings of Deer Park was, “Looking to see what to get Mom.” Tammy Bermudez and Barbara Cruz of Central Islip were both there to gain style insights regarding “shoes and handbags.”
The question of the day regarded Vanessa’s pregnancy. She said she is due in the fall. Though her husband, Nick Lachey, was present during the event, he was not part of the show.
