Senior Birthday Celebrations

Elder Law Attorney Stephen J. Silverberg announces that the Law Office of Stephen J. Silverberg, PC, has become a sponsor of Nassau County’s Senior Birthday Celebrations. The monthly birthday parties, held at the Old Bethpage Restoration Fairground building, 1302 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, from noon to 2 p.m., for residents ages 65 and older, were designed to provide Nassau County senior citizens with access to information about services provided by the Nassau County Offices of Aging, Consumer Affairs, Assessment, Health and Human Services, Housing and Social Services. Seniors are invited to celebrate their birthday in the month in which it falls with light refreshments, live entertainment by the Moonlight Serenaders, and games and raffles. Attendees will receive goody bags full of related information along with a free photo identification card. Also on July 25, Aug. 29, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 21 and Dec. 4.

Summer 2012 Groups For Ages 3 To 5

Marion K. Salomon & Associates, Inc., is offering summer speech groups and inclusion groups. Space is still available. Groups include language, articulation, pragmatics, socialization, music/movement, motor and art. Licensed speech pathologists and/or licensed/certified professionals run all groups. The Manetto Hill Men’s Club sponsors a blood drive for LI Blood Services from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Manetto Hill Jewish Center, 244 Manetto Hill Rd. Eligibility criteria: bring ID with signature or photo, minimum weight 110 pounds, age 16 – 75 (16-year-olds must have parental permission. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month between March and June and September through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. •Meet The Doctors. Focusing on education, Premiere OBGYN will sponsor a Meet the Doctors program on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 79 Froelich Farm Blvd., Woodbury. Women who are planning a pregnancy or are already expecting can join Drs. Prince, Brooks and Flynn and have their questions answered on conception and a safe pregnancy.

•Golf For Singles Adults, a group of 50 + single seniors meet the third Tuesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Sunnyside Blvd., Exit 46 off the LIE, Plainview. For info call 942-4228. The group plays on courses, mostly in Suffolk on the weekends as well as during the week.

•Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations. •Free Walk-In Stroke Support Group offered by Plainview Hospital every fourth Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. in Conference Rooms A and B, lower level, 888 Old Country Rd. Learn about risks, warning signs and treatments and hear medical specialists speak about the health issues concerning stroke and stroke prevention. Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc will hold half-hour sessions every Saturday at 9 a.m. with informative commentary and insight about deeply rooted Jewish rituals that provides an opportunity for Jews throughout the community to explore how Jewish customs and traditions came about. The public is invited to learn and ask questions. Rather than robotically following rituals and traditions, Jews now can take action to make their spiritual experience more meaningful and fulfilling.

•Modern Day Kabbalah Experience with renowned speaker Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc. Probe the Depths of the Kabbalah in 30 minutes! Participate in our weekly Shabbat classes. No previous background or religious affiliation required. All welcome. Shabbat mornings from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
