Frank Ocean opened up about his sexuality in new blog post, where he revealed his first love was a man.

“4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him, and his smile. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless,” the singer and Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All member wrote.

According to Digital Spy, the 24-year-old whose, real name is Christopher Breaux, planned on publishing the letter on his debut album that comes out July 17, Channel Orange. After rumors began circulating, the singer published the letter on his Tumblr account Wednesday.

Ocean divulged details of the relationship, “There was no escaping, no negotiating to the women I had been with, the ones I cared for and thought I was in love with. I sat there and told my friend how I felt. I wept as the words left my mouth. I grieved for then,” and then thanked the man he loved.

“Thanks. To my first love, I’m grateful for you,” he wrote. “Grateful that even though it wasn’t what I hoped for and even though it was never enough, it was. Some things never are. And we were. I won’t forget you. I won’t forget the summer. I’ll remember who I was when I met you. I’ll remember who you were and how we’ve both changed and stayed the same.”

Ocean became recognized when he was featured on Watch The Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album, as well as his work with OFWGKTA, alongside Tyler, The Creator, Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and Mike G, Left Brain, Sydney “Syd tha Kyd” Bennet, Matt Martians, Hal Williams, Jasper Dolphin, Travis “Taco” Bennet, and Lionel “L-Boy” Boyce. The group released their debut studio album The OF Tape Vol.2 in March, as the sequel to the group’s 2008 debut mixtape, The Odd Future Tape.

Tyler, The Creator, tweeted a congratulations after the singer released the blog post on his Tumblr account. “My Big Brother Finally F****** Did That. Proud Of That N**** Cause I Know That S*** Is Difficult Or Whatever. Anyway. Im A Toilet,” Tyler tweeted.
