A driver was killed and four passengers were wounded in an SUV crash on the Southern State Parkway in North Merrick early Monday morning.
New York State police said the truck was being driven eastbound when the driver lost control near exit 24 and hit the guiderail, causing the SUV to roll over down an embankment at 4:29 a.m.
All five occupants were taken to local hospitals. One is listed in critical condition.
Police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. The victims’ identities were not immediately available.
