Shirley Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car

A 62-year-old woman who was struck by car while standing on the front lawn of her Shirley home over the weekend has died.

Suffolk County police said Valerie Fahie died Monday at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue.

The victim was standing at the edge of her property near the corner of Maple Avenue and Winston Drive, when she was hit by a Kia shortly before noon Sunday, police said.

The driver, a 36-year-old South Carolina man, was not injured.
