Four robbers knocked a man out of his wheelchair while beating him with “sticks or pipes” to steal his prescription drugs after he left church in Riverhead last week, police said Tuesday.
The victim was attacked from behind near the Long Island Rail Road tracks on Maple Avenue after leaving the United Methodist Church at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, Riverhead Town police said.
The suspects fled the scene after they also stole cash from the victim, who is confined to a wheelchair due to injuries suffered in a crash, police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
