Third-grade students enrolled in the Farmingdale School District’s Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School recently researched various animals and drafted literature-based reports.
The students conducted the research in the school’s computer lab and library as part of an animal science activity. The lesson was designed to enhance the students’ use of technology while learning about various species and life cycles. The students researched the animals’ appearances, diets, habitats, specific life cycles, and how the animals defend themselves.
The experience also prepared the third grade students for a class field trip to the Bronx Zoo to study the animals up close.
