Cops say a Suffolk County man broke into a home in Oyster Bay Cove, killed the homeowner’s cat and burglarized the home in a disturbing scene on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

According to detectives, Nicholas Patrikis, 23, of Huntington, lost control of his Jeep Wrangler on Cove Road causing him to strike a snow bank and fence in front of a home on Royston Lane. Cops Say Patrikis exited the jeep, scaled the fence of the unoccupied home, broke the front glass door and proceeded to ransack several rooms while destroying property and stealing jewelry. The man also killed the homeowner’s pet cat, cops say.

But it didn’t end there, according to authorities. Patrikis then took a kitchen knife from the home and used it to terrorize several motorists on Cove Road. Cops say he robbed three individuals and resisted arrest when police arrived.

Patrikis is charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree robbery, second-degree criminal mischief, aggravated cruelty to animals, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and resisting arrest.
