The Village of Mineola’s Water Department is currently conducting hydrant flow testing today and tomorrow. This will require flushing at various locations throughout Mineola from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Today is the scheduled day, with Thursday as a backup in case of weather or other possible issues. During the flushing period, you may observe discolored water and possible low water pressure, officials said.
As a precaution, Mineola officials suggest that you refrain from washing your clothes during this time, check water quality after flushing hours by running the cold water tap and if it appears discolored, run the water until it clears. If the water does not clear within a few minutes, contact 516-746-0751.
Officials say you should consider shutting off your refrigerator ice maker temporarily while the flushing occurs.
