Long Island could see a mix of rain and snow Tuesday evening, with the white stuff potentially coating some areas with up to an inch of snow, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service said rain will likely start falling late in the afternoon before transitioning to snow in the evening. The temperature, which is expected to be in the mid-40s around 4 p.m., will drop to a low of 31 by nightfall, forecasters said.
There’s a 90 percent chance of precipitation in the evening, according to the weather service.
The wet weather will give way to more pleasant conditions Wednesday. Expect temperatures in the mid-40s during the day, with mostly sunny skies.
Thursday’s forecast appears to be even better. The weather service is predicting sunny skies and a high near 54 Thursday.
It’s still early, but as it stands right now, forecasters are predicting decent weather for Easter Sunday, with temperatures pushing 50 degrees.
