Julia Ricca passed away on June 3. Beloved: mother of Michael Ricca and Diane Mariano, mother-in-law of James Mariano, grandmother of Stephen Mariano and Christine Mariano, sister-in-law of Joseph Busuttil aunt of Edward Busuttil, Linda La Rocco and Christopher Cibelli.
Julia was a long-time Mineola resident, who could “be seen: ‘out and about,’” especially, during her morning walk, around the neighborhood. She was always, looking out for everyone, else. There was “always, room for one more” at the table.
Julia, during her early years, sang and the performance was broadcast on the WOR AM radio station. During her resident years, she sang with a local concert choir.
She enjoyed being the hostess, get togethers, family, friends, foods, fun times, laughter, The Clark Botanic Gardens, nature walks, Christmas, music, singing, motorcycles, Jones Beach and dining out.
Julia loved butterflies “because, they’re beautiful” and birds “because, they’re free.” She is beautiful and free.
Her kind, compassionate, caring, gentle, unselfish and humorous spirit was comfort to many people. May she find the peace, and serenity, that she, so, richly, deserved during her life.
Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, June 20 at 9:45 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 24 Westminster Rd., West Hempstead. Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
