wit & whim Supports Preserve

Friends of the Sands Point Preserve was selected by wit & whim to receive 100 percent of the shop’s proceeds during the month of July. Supporters helped kick off this event on July 9 with a cocktail party at the store.

The philanthropic shop features a curated selection of handmade, vintage, fair-trade and modern goods at every price point. “This month is particularly exciting because while we gift and give back every day, it is not always to an organization in our own backyard,” said Laurie Scheinman, owner of wit & whim. “Port Washington is so lucky to have such a special slice of history in our town. My family and I have been enjoying the magnificent grounds, activities and cultural events [at the Sands Point Preserve] for almost two decades and it never disappoints. I am proud to be donating 100 percent of our profits to this essential organization throughout July.”

Jean-Marie Posner, executive director and board member of the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve, said, “It’s a delightful shopping experience on any given day at wit & whim. What better way then to treat yourself to a gift that gives back in a meaningful way. Thank you, Laurie Scheinman, for generously supporting our community, charities and artists.”

Wit & Whim is located at 6 Carlton Ave.
