As part of its “Bring Change” campaign, Massapequa’s TD Bank’s Penny Arcade will serve as a designated hub to support the Shine family. This upcoming “Green Friday,” on Aug. 14, all are invited to participate in a community coin counting event and fundraiser. TD will match up to $2,000 in coins counted and do
nate it to the family. With 500 Green Friday events planned through February 2016, this program promises to raise more than $1 million in support of local organizations.
The Shine family has been a very special part of the Massapequa community. Mrs. Shine is very involved in the PTA, and her two daughters are well-rounded and dedicated students. A few weeks ago, Mr. Shine passed away suddenly. It has been a struggle for the family both financially and emotionally. Mrs. Shine works two jobs, including being a full-time parent to her girls. The funds will be used in a positive and responsible way (paying bills, funeral costs, needs of the children, etc.), having a profound impact.
Please join the community for a coin counting and check presentation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5555 Merrick Rd., Massapequa. The check presentation will occur at 4:30 p.m.
