Suffolk SCPA Probes Suspicious Dog Death

Dog found dead
X-rays revealed that the dog suffered a fracture in the neck, officials said.

Suffolk County authorities are investigating the case of a dog that died under suspicious circumstances in Central Islip over the weekend.

The Suffolk County SPCA said the young white apparent Poodle mix was found dead and partially covered at the corner of Ferndale Boulevard and Coconut Street on Sunday.

A veterinarian at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip who examined the body did not believe it was hit by a motor vehicle and didn’t rule out blunt force trauma according to Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County SPCA. He said X-rays revealed that the dog suffered a fracture in the neck.

Suffolk County SPCA investigators ask anyone with information on this case to call them at 631-382-772.
