A 41-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said Karen Diaz was crossing Clinton Street when she was hit by a northbound vehicle near the corner of Lincoln Boulevard shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, who has no known address, was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the vehicle and are continuing the investigation but found no criminality.
