Nassau County Police responded to a residence on First Place in Garden City Park at 12:30 p.m., searching a home for a possible domestic dispute. Authorities confirmed that residents of the house are safe.
Police originally received a call for an alleged hostage situation at the Garden City Park home, authorities stated. Police requested the assistance of the Nassau County Police Bureau of Special Operations Unit as well as the Emergency Service Unit.
Police said they made contact with the residents prior to the search and that it “was not a hostage situation.” The investigation is ongoing, police stated, but “it’s just about over.”
“There was no threat to neighbors at any time,” the police said in a release.”
Denton Avenue was closed at the Jericho Turnpike intersection during the investigation, police announced in an email. The road is now open to traffic.
