The Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore (RSNS) hosted its annual Hanukkah Party and Fry-Fest last Friday, Dec. 11. A seasonal highlight for RSNS teens, the Fry-Fest put a whole new spin on the holiday tradition of fried latkes.
“The miracle of oil is usually observed through the frying of latkes or sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts),” said Cantor Eric Schulmiller. “I like to kick things up a notch with our teen group, so our Hanukkah party included a full-fledged fry-fest: Oreos, Twinkies, cookie dough…if you can fry it, we’ll try it!”

Amidst all the frying, RSNS teens also found time to battle it out in the “Spinagogue” for dreidel spinning supremacy.
Mark your calendars. RSNS is already anticipating Fry-Fest 5777, which will be held at RSNS next year during Hanukkah 2016.
