S.T.O.P. & E-Waste Collection Day Scheduled For Sept. 10

The sixth 2016 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal (S.T.O.P.-Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) and E-Waste (Electronic Waste) Collection dates for Oyster Bay Town residents is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, and will be held at Town Hall South, lstock-photo-6733104-grass-recycle-symbolocated on 977 Hicksville Road in Massapequa according to Town Councilwoman Rebecca M. Alesia.

“The S.T.O.P. program remains a source of pride for the Town,” said Alesia. “The trash and electronic waste collected from the S.T.O.P program makes significant progress towards fulfilling one of the top priorities of the Oyster Bay Town Board; the protection of Long Island’s underground aquifer system, a vital component to our water supply that continues to be preserved through this program.” 

The hours for hazardous waste collection are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents who would like further information on the S.T.O.P. program can call the Town’s Department of Environmental Resources at 516-677-5943.  Additionally, the Town offers an informative brochure about the S.T.O.P., e-waste and drug collection programs, including a list of what can be disposed of and the schedule of collection days and locations for 2016. The next S.T.O.P. Collection date will be on Saturday, Oct. 15.
