Newborn Baby Found in Shoe Box in Brentwood

A six-week-old baby girl was found wrapped in a blanket in a shoe box with a bottle of milk on her on the porch of a Brentwood home, Suffolk County police said.

A 14-year-old boy heard a baby crying on the rear porch of his Washington Avenue home, went outside and made the discovery at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The boy told his family, who brought the baby inside and called 911. The baby was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where doctors said she was in good health.

Child Protective Services was notified. Third Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8352.
