Honoring Myra Fox Through Art

The recently opened Roslyn Village Gallery, located at 1374 Old Northern Blvd. in Roslyn, will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, March 12, from noon to 5 p.m.

“I feel so lucky to be able to paint everyday,” said Marsha Tarlow, owner of Roslyn Village Gallery. “It is such a privilege, so it’s important for me to give back.”

The day is dedicated to the life and work of Myra Fox, an artist and previous Roslyn resident, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer over a year ago. Fox has since been unable to return to her lifelong love of painting as the disease continues to progress. This show will afford her the opportunity to share her paintings, which evoke the common thread of an appreciation for the environment, with local residents, fellow artists and interested patrons.
Though Tarlow was never personally acquainted with Fox, she heard her story through mutual friends and was compelled to use her new space to help in any way she could.

“I had never met her, but my two friends were telling me how upset they were about their friend Myra,” said Tarlow. “So I said ‘Why don’t you ask her if she wants to have a show here?’ And then I said, ‘Better yet, ask her if she’d like to do a fundraiser.’”

The show will feature Fox’s body of work throughout her lifetime, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward brain cancer research.
