The Joyous String Ensemble recently performed during the halftime show at a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.
The orchestra belongs to the Joyous Music School, a professional music school that trains pianists, composers and instrumentalists in Hicksville. With a faculty of distinguished artist-teachers, the school nurtures aspiring artists and fosters creativity and intellectual curiosity in every student.
Over the past two years, the ensemble has become an international sensation—with major TV appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, Fox News, NBC’s The Today Show, Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots and Harry, Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show. In addition, the group performed at the White House for President Obama.
Each year, Joyous Music School and its sister organization, Herald Music School, present concerts in venues such as the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Town Hall. The school also holds regular concert tours in Europe and Asia. Director Julian Yu believes that, by providing talented students with opportunities to perform in world class venues, it adds further encouragement to the serious students who are dedicated to music and wish to pursue their study.
