On Valentine’s Day we watched with horror and outrage as 17 innocent students and faculty were gunned down at Parkland High School.
The Students at Parkland are organizing a March for their Lives on March 24 in Washington DC and throughout the country. The Women’s March Youth Empowerment Group is organizing a School Walkout at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14; a 17 minute walkout to honor the 17 people killed in the Parkland massacre. Help ensure these people did not die in vain; join us in showing up to support this School Walkout.
Once again we were confronted by a crime and kind of slaughter frequent and unique to our country. Once again we were forced to confront memories of our young people dying and their families and friends grappling with unbearable loss and trauma. In the week and a half since, we have watched with appreciation and admiration bordering on awe as the students at Parkland turned their agony and fear and trauma into a “NEVER AGAIN” movement. Overnight these young people became activists, and have breathed new life into the effort to end gun violence in our country. They deserve our support in helping keep all of our children safe.
We hope to see you outside Oyster Bay High School at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, supporting the nationwide School Walkout.
