Great news: The Town of Huntington Cat Shelter (operated by Little Shelter) reopens May 12, so join them 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the new facility, adoptions, raffle prizes, drinks and more! They are located at 104 Deposit Rd. in East Northport. Here’s just a sneak peak of some of the adorable cats you can meet this weekend:

Peaches loves being carried like a king. He is always eager for someone to hold him. He’s very friendly and loves the sun.

He’s always seeking out attention and treats. Peaches would be great in a household where he could be the center of attention and is sure to keep his family entertained with his kitty antics. This sweet lovebug is just waiting for you to come and pick him up today!

Sebastian1
Sebastian

Sebastian likes to lurk around like Batman, waiting for the perfect person to ask for treats and affection. When he finds that person, he waits until they are unsuspecting, and then he pounces on them, not letting them leave until he is properly brushed and pampered. Those that don’t comply get stared at until they give in.

For more information about adopting Peaches and Sebastian, call the Town of Huntington Cat Shelter at 631-651-9788.

fiona4
Fiona

Available for adoption at Little Shelter:

Fiona is a super sweet and friendly 8-year-old Puggle mix that loves people, getting treats, playing with toys and going out to explore the wooded trails at Little Shelter. She is currently recovering from heartworm, so she must be the only dog in the house at this time. Fiona has a very happy-go-lucky attitude and is always eager to greet people she meets on her walks and get affection. She would do well in a house with older children.

David

Handsom David is a 4-year-old gray-and-white cat who is obsessed with belly rubs! He actually falls asleep when you rub his belly. He loves being cuddled and will paw at your leg or gently meow for you to pick him up and carry him around. He’s a mush with a big personality who wants to always be in the center of the action. He would do great in almost any household and would love to have a little human of his own to play with.
For more information about adopting Fiona and David, contact Little Animal Rescue & Adoption Center at 33 Warner Rd in Huntington or 631-368-8770.

ward
Ward

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:

There is something wonderful about Ward! This 2-1/2-year-old, extra-handsome boy came to the shelter as a stray in January 2017. There is just something about his face that everyone is in love with! Ward is also very sweet, and a blast to hang out with. Ward loves to play with toys and is affectionate with his person. Ward needs slow introductions to other dogs.

Jaxon

Everyone is swooning over Jaxon! This 10-years-young kitty came to the shelter as a stray. Jaxon is FIV positive, and is currently hanging out in the shelter’s FIV cattery with our other FIV kitties. Jaxon is a total sweetheart and purring machine. Staff and volunteers are obsessed with him and want to see him in a loving home.

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue:

Applying for the position of perfect family dog, Sabrina would like to submit her resume. Only 3 years old, Sabrina came to Last Hope from a crowded Kentucky Shelter. She is a small mix of Chihuahua and perhaps Dachshund, which happens to make her amazingly adorable! Sabrina likes kids and other dogs and would fit into any family just perfectly.

Available for adoption at North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington:

If you’re looking for someone to spice up your life, look no further than Peppermint (reference #R164899).  This older kitten has grown up in our Adoption Center and is ready to break free! She’s full of energy and needs a home with children 16+ in age.

Someone who knows how to harness kitten energy into appropriate playtime is ideal. She’ll reward you with some love and loyalty. Because she is unsure of her fur friends, a home where she can reign supreme would be ideal for this playful diva. If a beautiful friend who keeps you on your toes sounds like your idea of a soul mate, please come meet Peppermint!

Please contact Sonias@animalleague.org for more information about adopting Peppermint today!

peach
Peach

Available for adoption at the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter:

Pretty as a peach, Peach (reference #180092) is a petite, domestic short haired gal who is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. Peach came to the shelter in mid-March as a very sick cat with a severe respiratory infection. She was treated by the shelter’s vet and nursed back to health.

Peach has a slight head tilt, possibly as a result of her illness, but that doesn’t stop her! Peach loves to be pet and will stay and sit with you for hours. This little girl has fought all the way back and it would be wonderful for her to get adopted and be in a home of her own as soon as possible.

If you think Peach would be a perfect addition to your home, contact the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter at 150 Miller Pl. in Syosset or 516-677-5784.

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
