Movie Matinée at Main

The film, which tells the story of Annie, the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan and her unlikely romance with once revered singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe, who also happens to be the subject of Duncan’s musical obsession, will be shown at 2 p.m. at Main.

Lakeville Literary Club

Life after Life by Kate Atkinson about Ursula Todd, who was born in 1910 and is fated to die and be reborn over and over until she “gets it right,” will be discussed at the Lakeville Literary Club at 7 p.m. at Lakeville; 516-466-8055, ext. 232.

Donate urgently needed blood during the Community Blood Drive at Main on Thursday, Feb. 28.

During this critical blood shortage, donate to the Great Neck Library and LI Blood Services Community Blood Drive between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. in Main’s community room. Bring a donor card or ID with a photo and signature. Donors can be between 16 and 75 years old, though 16 year olds need parental consent and those 76 and older need a doctor’s note. The minimum weight is 110 pounds. Donors cannot have gotten a tattoo within the past 12 months. For medical eligibility questions, call 800-688-0900. Art Exhibit at Main

Artist Maxine Townsend-Broderick’s work, including quilting, oils, watercolor and mixed media, will be on display in Main’s lower level gallery, main lobby, mezzanine and community room. All are invited to her artist talk on March 5 at 2 p.m. at Main.

Prospective Candidates Search

For the 2019 Great Neck Library election to be held on Oct. 28, prospective candidates are being sought for two seats expiring in January 2020—one on the Board of Trustees to fill Scott Sontag’s seat and one on the Nominating Committee to fill Patrick McDonnell’s seat. A nominee must be a member of the Great Neck Library Association by Oct. 7, 2019, at least 18 years old, a resident of the Great Neck School District and either be a valid library card holder or registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections.
