Last 5 Cats at Shelter Being Evicted Among Pets Up for Adoption on Long Island

pjimage (24)

Rather than turn away a shelter cat or dog that may not appear perfect on paper, why not embrace the challenge of saving a life?

For example, did you know that FIV-positive cats can still be healthy, strong, and live rich, full lives? Did you know that FIV is feline specific, meaning people and other types of pets cannot get it? In fact, interactions between FIV and non-FIV cats — including grooming, sharing food/water bowls, sharing litter boxes, and playing together — have no known risk of transmission.

This just goes to show that all of our Long Island homeless animals deserve a new beginning, so why not head out and change a life today?Pets4Luv 2

Last Chance to Help Pets4Luv Animal Rescue:

Pets4Luv is a wonderful animal rescue that is sadly being evicted from their location in the Source Mall in Westbury. Sadly, it is confirmed that Pets4Luv will be shutting its doors on Monday, April 29. There are still five cats that remain without a foster or adopter. If you can adopt or foster, please contact Dave or Lori at [email protected] or call the rescue at 516-832-8200. Please also continue to share their story and help raise the money they need to relocate and rebuild so Pets4Luv can continue to save lives and bring families together.

Valetina
Valetina

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:

Valentina is the shelter’s pretty, petite, fawn baby girl who came in as a stray in February. She is only 42 pounds, so she’s the perfect size for almost any home. Not only that, but Valentina is playful with other dogs.

She was also cat tested, and did well, so she may be able to go home and live with a cat. She is also friendly, and a little shy when meeting new people. This sweet girl is sure to make someone very happy.

Staff and volunteers love this gal, and truly hope she does not have to wait too long for her forever family to come in and fall in love with her. If you are interested in learning more, please call the shelter at 516-785-5220, visit them at: 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh, or email [email protected].

Katie
Katie

Available for adoption at Bideawee:

Meet Katie! Doesn’t this 3-year-old lady have quite the striking face? Donning a brilliant copper and ebony mask upon a white and be-speckled coat, Katie certainly stands out.

If her fantastic coloration and beautiful face doesn’t pop for you, then her jubilant personality and spirited hellos certainly will. Katie loves to make friends with every person who crosses her path. She is a genuine social butterfly.

Always ready for adventure and up for an expedition, she is seeking an adult-only family that shares in her active lifestyle and lust for exploring. She is truly a perfect medium-sized dog and would be the ideal companion for any energetic home that is seeking a pooch that is neither too large nor too small.

Alice
Alice

This little 3-month-old beauty is named Alice. She is a one-of-a-kind charmer that we all simply adore. Perhaps it’s her bashful and tender-hearted ways, or maybe it’s her soft and precious coat.

However, most agree it’s her smile. Alice graces us with her charming little expression each day. She likes to don what is called a “submissive grin,” and shows off her pearly whites to us.

This is her puppy way of saying she wants to be friends and means no harm. We can’t help but laugh and swoon for Alice. We’re quite sure you’ll fall in love with her just as easily too.

Precious
Precious

This gorgeous 1-year old lady is named Precious. Tender-hearted, beautiful and affectionate, she truly lives up to her name. Bashful, but ever-so loving, Precious has stolen the hearts of the staff and volunteers at Bideawee.

Her gentle and unassuming nature is hard not to adore. Weighing in at 38 pounds, she is also the perfect size for any family seeking a new family member that is neither too large nor too small. She’s the idyllic in-between.

Jungle
Jungle

This handsome boy is Jungle. He is an entertaining 5-year-old kitty who knows how to charm, beguile and make the crowds roar with laughter. This adorable tuxedo feline is very people-oriented and loves to play and engage with his friends.

Being active and enthusiastic, Jungle tends to get a little carried away at times and may play with extra vigor. Therefore, we recommend a mature, experienced and adult-only family for this fun fellow. Mr. Jungle might be able to live with another active kitty, but this should be considered on a case-by-case basis.

He would just blossom if his future household could provide a good amount of space, exercise and healthy outlets for his energy and curiosity.

For more information about adopting Katie, Alice, Precious and Jungle, contact the Bideawee adoption center located at 118 Old Country Rd., Westhampton, or call 631-684-0079.

daisy
Daisy

Available for adoption at Almost Home Animal Rescue:

Yes, it’s true, a daisy is a delicate and gorgeous flower typically associated with the ladies, but this Daisy is a handsome fella, who was recently surrendered when his owner passed away. Daisy is a 10-year-old guy who is just as sweet as they come. He loves to give head butts and purrrrs really loud to show affection.

Super friendly and very affectionate, Daisy is now looking for a new furever home. If you are searching for a true gem of a cat, look no further! Contact Almost Home Animal Rescue at almosthomeli.org or call 631-627-3665 today!

tammy 1
Tammy

Available for adoption at Little Shelter:

Tammy is a 3-year-old Beagle mix who traveled all the way from Puerto Rico to find her new family. She is a very sweet girl who gets along with other dogs and likes to curl up like a cat on your lap. Tammy likes playing in the doggie pens with her friends and rolling around in the grass. She’s a young dog with a lot of love to give but is waiting for that special someone to give it do.

cupid
Cupid

Most people think she was named for Valentine’s Day, but Cupid actually arrived at Little Shelter back in December of 2015 along with her sister Vixen. That was the year they got the best present of their young lives…a warm place to sleep and some yummy food. Now, it’s time for the best of the best presents, a forever family!

For more information about adopting Tammy and Cupid, please contact Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center at 33 Warner Rd, Huntington, 631-368-8770.

Maxwell

Available for adoption at the Town of Huntington Cat Shelter:

Meet Maxwell, the 9-year-old kitty who just wants to be held. He loves being at the center of all the action and is very demanding of cuddles. There’s just one thing: Maxwell is FIV positive.

Maxwell might have FIV but he’s a healthy cat. As long as he’s cared for and sees a vet on a regular basis, he can still live a long normal life. In fact, FIV is so slow to progress that most FIV-positive cats die of old age! This month marks Maxwell’s 1-year Catt-a-versary since he came to live at Town of Huntington, but volunteers and staff would really like to celebrate him going to a furever home.

For more information about adopting Maxwell, please contact the Town of Huntington Cat Shelter located at 104 Deposit Rd, East Northport, 631-651-9788.

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
