Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue:Marie

Meet Marie from the Marina. This stunning quilted calico was rescued mid-February in Bay Shore down by the docks and lobster traps. Marie just turned 1 year old, and as you can see, she was ear-tipped for the TNR, but due to her sweetness and pet potential, she has since joined the Last Hope cat adoption program. Marie wants you to know that even though she’s from the marina, she’s quite content with quality cat food (no lobster tails required). In fact, all she’s really looking for is a home she can call her own. For more information about adopting Marie, please contact Last Hope Animal Rescue at 631-425-1884 or head down to visit them at 3300 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh.

Yafa
Yafa

Yafa’s (adoption # BF2423) journey at North Shore Animal League America has demonstrated the success that comes with patience and support in a cage-free setting.  Having left an uncertain life on the local streets where she contracted FIV+, it took this fearful, 7 ½-year-old female time to embrace her family of human and feline friends. Now happily living in Bianca’s Furry Friends, Yafa enjoys ear rubs from trusted volunteers and perching herself high above her friends so she can safely watch visitors. Her ideal home is a predictable one with other cats who will help her continue building her confidence, and children 12+ in age who will help her past her shyness.

**DOUBLE ADOPTION** You’ll find sisters Margie (adoption #BF2509) and Marjorie (adoption #BF2511) by each other’s sides while they navigate life’s ups and downs.  Looking ahead after their local rescue, these shy older kittens (9 months) are relieved to have landed in a safe, warm place with loving caretakers who are rooting for their success.  This duo must be adopted together.  A quiet home with cat experienced adults and children 8+ in age will guarantee their transition to homebodies is a successful one. Give Margie and Marjorie your heart and they’ll be sure to purr their appreciation!

Ricola

Don’t pretend like you don’t want to shout this kitty’s name from the rooftops! Ricola (adoption #NCI1314) has had quite a journey which required a lot of support from her Animal League America family, first in our Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center, and then when the 8-month-old was transferred to the Port Washington campus as signs of a medical issue became apparent. NSALA’s devoted Medical Team has created a plan of treatment for her micro vascular dysplasia, a condition which will require medicine and a special diet for her lifetime. Fortunately for Ricola, she is part of NSALA’s Sponsor Program so her healthcare will be fully covered through their Medical Center thanks to the generosity of donors. All her soon-to-be family needs to worry about is how to tear themselves away from this bright, little sprite. Ricola is the most irresistible tabby princess who enjoys snuggling in your arms, so head down to meet her today! Smores

When a municipal shelter couldn’t treat 7-year-old S’mores’ (adoption # L80506) injuries from a car accident, they enlisted the help of NSALA’s Rescue Team. This lucky gentleman is now enjoying the attention he’d been missing his whole life. Life on the streets in South Jersey has left him FIV+ and a bit battered, but his spirit is soaring with the thrill of feeling loved by all who meet him. Smores is actively looking for a comfy home in which the spoiling can continue. And come on, who doesn’t want more S’mores?!Archie and Greta

**DOUBLE ADOPTION** What a whirlwind Archie (adoption #IR1322) and Gretta’s (adoption #IR1324) lives have been so far! After surviving outdoors in Puerto Rico, a chain of heroes ensured their safe arrival at NSALA’s Adoption Center with the promise of a very bright future. Together forever, these sweet kitten siblings (7-month-old brother and sister) are still a bit jetlagged from all the excitement but sense the security of a permanent home is in their near future. If you have a quiet home with children 16+ in age and a nurturing spirit, you’ll be delighted to be the newest heroes Archie and Gretta have been awaiting.

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter:

Mr. Smithers
Mr. Smithers

Mr. Smithers is a 10-year-old Domestic Shorthair kitty who is certainly not the shy or quiet type. This little chatterbox will let you know when he’s in need of more TLC or attention. If the occasional meow doesn’t do the trick, this dapper gentleman will cuddle up to you with a nudge to ask for more attention. He has a hyperthyroid condition that requires a little extra care, but this is easily managed with daily medications. Mr. Smithers would make a wonderful addition to any family!

Max

Max is an 8-year-old Basset Hound/Corgi who has truly come out of his shell during his time staying at the shelter. He was surrendered to the Smithtown Animal Shelter and may have experienced some type of trauma in the past. As a result, Max is a little cautious when meeting new people before warming up to you. However, anyone who knows Max will tell you it is well worth a few visits to gain his trust. Once he lets you into his heart, the affection and love Max gives is truly endless. Max would be best suited in a home without cats and young children. He does get along with mellow dogs who know not to play too rough.

For more information about adopting Mr. Smithers or Max, head over to the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter at 410 East Main St. in Smithtown or call 631-360-7575 today!

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
