Pastrami on rye is perhaps one of the most famous sandwiches found in any New York deli, and on Long Island it’s the same way. But when the craving strikes, who makes the best pastrami sandwich on Long Island?
Long Islanders voted Smok-Haus the Best Pastrami Sandwich on Long Island in the 2022 Bethpage Best of Long Island contest! Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers had previously dominated this category for more than a decade.
A pastrami sandwich is a stellar option at a place locals know to go in Garden City when hunger arrives. The house-made cheese sauce is amazing along with the smokey flavor of the moist meat, one of the great dishes you might try here. Every single bite is as delicious as the first. The beef brisket is house-brined for two weeks then smoked overnight with a select wood blend. The signature sandwich is served on a toasted roll with sauerkraut and mustard.
A friendly welcoming comes first from the owner if he’s around, and the waitstaff person that serves you seem delighted you went in. The good food and friendly demeanor of the employees really make this place a favorite stop and the food more delicious!
Smok-Haus is located at 7 12th St. in Garden City. It can be reached at 516-400-7100 or smok-haus.com
