Walking Tour of Gerry Park
Led by Meagan Fastuca, Town of North Hempstead. Over the past 6 years the Town of North Hempstead has created a multitude of pollinator gardens throughout Gerry Park, including the over 3,000 square foot rock garden. These gardens all contain native plants that provide resources for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife species. Native plants also have a variety of additional benefits like absorption of stormwater and air pollution, low maintenance requirements and do not need watering once established. Participants on the walking tour will explore these gardens and learn about the many native plant species as well as pollinators and other wildlife that use them.
