In an empowering webinar led by Meaghan Janedis, executive coach and CEO of Eagle Point Coaching, parents gained expert insights into preparing teens for a confident, purposeful future beyond traditional academics and college prep.
Janedis revealed what every parent needs to know to prepare their teen for a successful, fulfilling life in this eye-opening session that digs into the missing piece in traditional schooling, tutoring, and college advising.
“A lot of the parents’ focus is getting the job, getting the career from the school that the child goes to,” she said. “If they could just get the right ACT score or SAT score or AP classes, they’ll get into the right school and they’re made. And yet forgetting these very basic skills like connection, etiquette, manners that really make them stand them apart from everyone else out there.”
Janedis delved into how parents can equip teens with real-world skills for lifelong success, ways to boost teens’ confidence, motivate them, and help them achieve clarity about their future. The webinar also discussed why early planning and executive coaching can be game-changers and strategies to help your child build both a meaningful career and a strong personal life.
She has a natural talent and passion for the topic and as a former Wall Street trader, a keen eye for what employers want in the real world. Helping kids get off their electronic devices and cultivate interpersonal relationships is key.
“If your child cannot connect in a normal adult, engaging and charming manner with the firm’s client reliably, they cannot get the job,” she said. “It’s that simple. It doesn’t matter what their SAT score is. Nobody cares at that point. That’s what might have gotten them in the door, but it’s not going to keep them in the door. They need people skills, and if they don’t have them, they’re simply not going to get the job. And that’s where executive coaching also helps.”
