Roslyn High School’s Mock Trial Team won the 41st Annual Robert J. Bernstein SWS Mock Trial Tournament on Dec. 3, at The Wheatley School, marking the school’s third consecutive championship.

The team secured three victories throughout the competition — two while representing the defense and one on the prosecution — earning Roslyn its third consecutive championship title.

This year’s team captains, Matthew Clarke, Victoria Siegel, and Emily Krejci, helped lead a talented and dedicated group of competitors. Their guidance, preparation, and steady leadership were instrumental in ensuring the program’s continued success during a year of transition.

With the arrival of a new coach, Shannen Delaney, a former attorney who recently joined the faculty as a teacher, the captains played a vital role in bridging experience with new direction. Coach Delaney’s legal background, combined with the captains’ deep understanding of the team’s culture and traditions, created a strong foundation that allowed the students to excel throughout the tournament.

Representing Roslyn on the prosecution were: Sam Greenfield, Hyun Chavez, Chloe Wu, Albert Zheng, Nina Pirskala, and Charles Metzger. The defense team included: Liat Somekh, Eloise Lee, Simran Baksh, Claire Kim, Jason Quadri, and Leah Blumberg.  Both the prosecution and defense delivered outstanding performances from the opening statement to closing statements. They fought hard to put their spin on the case.

Also contributing significantly to the team’s success were Lee Levine and Ben Cohen, who served as co-lawyers and consistently offered support and assistance throughout the season. Roslyn High School congratulates all participating students for their commitment, professionalism, and excellence. Their achievement reflects not only outstanding legal preparation but also the collaboration and determination that define the school’s Mock Trial program.
